Album Review

Happy Rhodes' debut is an impressive assemblage that echoes the past glories of David Sylvian, Alison Moyet, and Kate Bush. Given the content, it's likely to fall on very in-the-know ears, for current radio trends are unlikely to embrace this diva's eclectic brand of pop music. Where this album fails is not in talent, but in her sometimes, almost plodding arrangements of otherwise strong material. The future promise of Rhodes lies with "The Chariot."

Laughable ITunes review! A Unique Masterpiece!

by Nuerodragster.

I have been a huge fan for years and THIS IS NOT A DEBUT! Far from It!!! To rephrase the ITunes reviewer, where every "pop"artist fails is illustrated by HOW HIGH the bar is set by happy Rhodes, on this masterpiece! This is glorioulsy uncategorizable, serenading-genius music. Ecclectic, but literally beyond comparison. Are we worthy?

An audio feast for music aficionados and literary fans alike

Add a 4-octave vocal range with the songwriting prose based on great literary works of Asimov's Bicentennial Man (referenced in 100 Years) and Philip K. Dick Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? (the basis of the movie Bladerunner referenced in the song Roy). Happy Rhodes has demonstrated with this album that she is only getting better and her latest album "Find Me" keeps improving on the strengths she has shown on this masterpiece. With over twenty years of vocal and songwriting mastery, you can look forward to an hour of aural gratification.

Not her debut but close to her best

As others have noted this is not her debut album. Lots of good tracks you almost can't go wrong picking a random one to sample. If this is your first exposure to Happy I'd suggest "Ra Is a Busy God" or "100 Years" as a good sample of her beautiful vocals and witty lyrics. If you're a fan of the movie "Bladerunner" pick up "Roy (Back from the Offworld)".
