Really nice tracks

I kept holding off on purchasing this cd for some reason but when I finally took the plunge I was really happy with the music. Playing God, Now Sue, Van Go Gan are really pleasant to listen to over and over.

Great CD.

Beckley Delivers Big

I've followed the group America since their early years and have always been a big fan. Beckley's solo work is outstanding. This is my favorite album of all of his solo releases. The song-writing is strong and his voice sounds good. Gerry's 'live' voice isn't what it used to be, but he sounds great on this album. There isn't a stinker on the entire album (although Playing God is probably my least fav by far). The following tracks are the best in my opinion: Goodbye Highway; Kiss of Life, Sunrise Sunseet, Emma, Only a Kid at Heart, and One Day's Duning.

Beckley at the top of his game

I grew up listening to Beckley's band, America. They were my favorite band in high school and I've gone back to re-buy a lot of their old music on iTunes. (iTunes - how about adding some of their post Dan Peek material?) Though it brings back a lot of good memories, some of it hasn't aged well - mixed in with those songs I know and love is a lot of very weak filler material. Van Go Gan isn't like that - it's a mature Gerry Beckley. Though it sounds a bit like some of his America material, it's more sophisticated, more mature. Good songs, great production. This is worth your ten bucks. The only quibble I have is the inclusion of the Phil Hartman bit. It's out of place in an otherwise polished and strong effort. Then again, that's why computers come with a delete key.
