Medieval Madness

     

This cd, as well as "Shauspiluden", became a source of inspiration for early musicians all over the United States. It also taught a lot of people that Scotland was not the first country to have the bagpipes, but rather one of the last. Some may compare Wolgemut to Corvus Corax, however, Wolgemut has a more traditional, less "electronic" sound, so if that is what you are looking for, then you will find it here. "Schauspiluden II" has songs from Germany, Italy, Spain, and England, and Wolgemut gives their own special feel to each song. This is especially true with "Saltarello," a staple for medieval bands all over the world. They also take a medieval Spanish song such as "Cantiga 1" and really go all out with it, even though the manuscript itself calls for something a bit more reserved. Do not miss "Eisbarentanz"; loud German bagpipes and big drums at their very best! If you ever get to see them perform live, do not miss it!
