Sharp lyrics, smooth sound
by mhmiller15I have had the good fortune to listen to this band live on several occasions over the years, and they are a joy to see if you get the chance. I am happy to say their studio work captures the spirit of their live performance. It is so rare to find meaningful lyrics, catchy hooks, and great harmonies. Their sound is multi-dimensional with eclectic influences and ability to shift or integrate genres smoothly. The harmonica, lyrics, and playfulness are reminiscent of Blues Traveler, but not in a redundant or imitative way. I particularly love Restless Waters, Jessica, Big Sky, and Dear Carissa. If you want true musicianship without the branded superficiality...listen and rejoice!

by Ametuer at BestThis band is a lot of fun. Some great tunes on this CD. Jessica is my particular favorite. On top of the great music Maybe August is one of those, in this day and age, rare bands that you should actually take the time to listen to the lyrics. Take a listen and decide for yourself.
