The Calling
by kntsplHow much do I love this collection of Wil Maring? This was the first album I bought for my first Ipod. I discovered her music on You Tube as I was searching for folks who had recorded the Millworker Song. Her voice is clear, the songs have real stories associated with them. I could not be more pleased with any selection of music.
I know this is listed as Country but I think a better description would be folk. I can't wait for the next album. When are you coming to N.C. ? I'm going to tell all my friends to "check you out."

Listen to Wil Maring!
by dbronxIn the last two month I have been introduced to a terrific singer/songwriter by the name of Wil Maring. Her music is described as being Americana/bluegrass/folk. It is most definitely "wooden music" as David Crosby once put it. I have been listening to her latest CD, "The Calling," pretty regularly since I got it. Wil's lyrics are simple, direct and from the heart. When you read the lyrics they are poetry and story-telling all at the same time. The music is joyful, sad, wistful and playful. All of the songs are brilliant but some of the standouts for me are: The Open Road, Keeper of the Farm, Make You Smile, The Calling, All Gone, You Leave, and Rows. And check out her take on Steve Winwood's Back In The High Life Again. Give Wil a listen. I think you'll like what you hear.
