A great first album by a versatile musician
by skipnwAfter hearing Anna on NPR's Open Mic, I caught one of her shows in LA, bought her album (not from iTunes, sorry!), caught another show while in SF, and have to say that I was really impressed both times. This album will be a sweet addition to anyone's library that likes roots-style music, be it folk or blues or rock, but she really shines in the live shows.
There's also a good mix of slow and upbeat stuff on this album, making it easy to listen to from the beginning. "Nowhere You Need to Go" and "The Most Beautiful Thing I've Ever Seen" are my personal favorites, but I think "Beautiful Boy" and "Goodbye Blue Monday" are usually the songs Anna gets noticed for...
All in all, a terrific album for the folkies and the not-so-folkies, like me!
What a great voice!
by JMongolListened to Anna perform in San Francisco at the Cannery (Fisherman's Wharf) recently. We were very impressed with the quality of Anna's voice and the style of her music. Love the album! :)
