Acutally, it is THAT skafish
by rasputen the cleverthis is the same Jim Skafish that did "disgracing the family name". quite a different sound this time but as far as christmas albums go it is pretty great. Anyone who is sick of smooth jazz looking for that 'coffee shop christmas' sound need look no further.Still, it's hard to be Vince's "A Charlie Brown Christmas" album.
Not THAT Skafish
by ringspun01Looking for "Joan Fan Club" or the quaint Christmas fave "Disgracing the Family Name" ? Then go on, New Wave seekers, because this is not that Skafish. A common musically-gifted name.
Like "Partridge"? XTC vs the lovely group with David Cassidy, methinks.
Perfect Holiday Jazz Album
by Andy GerltTidings of Comfort and Joy is a great traditional jazz Christmas album. When searching for Christmas jazz, I had been thoroughly disappointed at the offerings – most of which I found to be new age/contemporary offerings – not true jazz. Skafish does a wonderful job of switching flawlessly from up-tempo favorites to slower, smooth sounds.
The album will be great for quiet winter nights at home or perfect as background music for an elegant holiday party. A highlight of the album is God Rest Ye Merry Gentleman, where the trio meshes to produce some of the best jazz on the album. The album exclusive We Three Kings Fusion is also highly worth the purchase. As far as Christmas albums go, this is a new favorite that will surely see a lot of play in my musical library for years to come. Highly recommended.
