Newfound Maturity!
by Anakin1814I loved their first release, "Never Been A Rebel." When they came out with this one, I wondered what they could do to top themselves. I have to say, they did that and then some. The artistic growth on this new batch of songs is apparrent. The production is crisp and clean, the showman- and craftsmanship of their lives shows shines through. I'd heard that this album was going to include a song with bagpipes. My first thought was, "What the hell?" Was this their Spinal Tap moment so soon, had they hit their sophomore slump?? Not at all. The mixture of bagpipes, duets, slow jams, etc. have all added a new set of tricks to their bag, showing a newfound maturity. Plus, parts of it just really ROCK! Great job!!!
My favorite CD!
by Friend of FruitcakeThis is, hands down, my favorite CD...EVER, at least until Clear Blue Betty's third release??? Many of the songs touch me personally. The CD exudes the personality of the band. Their last CD (Never Been a Rebel) won the 2005 Madison Area Music Award for Best Rock Album. I expect that this one will do well in several categories. The CD has a wonderful mix of songs that will inspire many feelings, taking up and down. The second track, Bulletproof" is my mantra, "live like your bulletproof." "Come Over" is an appealing duet with a little bit of country feel to it that you cannot help but sing along to. The Calling's gospel choir gives me chills every time I hear it. Seeing them live at the CD release party was amazing. I can't wait to see the DVD from that show. You will love this CD.
