Rock and Roll Trombone?? You Bet!!!

by theQ-Dog

Once you get past the fact that these guys are playing some Rock standards on trombones, you'll realize that this is one FANTASTIC band. The arrangements, songwriting and performances are top-notch. The records are great, but a live performance is a lot better. This is a great party record.

Great Album

I first heard Bonerama at the International Trombone Festival in New Orleans. They played Crosstown Traffic at a trombone clinic and my jaw dropped. I immediately bought this album after the show and couldn't stop playing it for about a week. This is such a talented and original band. Their live performances are so much fun to see and hear and this album does a good job of captuing that energy. This album is a must have for trombone players, rock fans, anyone and I'm glad iTunes finally added them!

Not a Novelty

by 35bandman

I was originally drawn to Bonerama by the idea of an all-trombone band playing Whipping Post. After a minute or two, the novelty wore off. What was left was an absolutely AWESOME band. Incredible musicianship. All bandmembers are first-rate. Very creative arrangements. The rock standards are a lot of fun, and they ROCK HARD. The original tunes and instrumentals are excellent as well. I personally like Chilcock and Shake Your Rugulator. For musicians, this CD is a clinic in well-paced improvisation, creative and expressive ensemble skills, and the unique, yet perfectly natural sound of the trombone as a lead, electric instrument.

As good as this CD is, they are 10 times better live. I went to see them with the idea of hearing one set. After an hour and half I kept saying to myself "one more song." Two hours and fifteen minutes after the first note (way past my bedtime on a weeknight), I left the club blown away. An absolute must see if they come to your town.
