A very different kind of music - I like it!

by Tanks4me

As many probably know, this New Age niche is rather small. Chris Carter, one of the other major artists on Itunes, has some great music as well, but they are more for background noise. These songs actually have not only a sort of relaxing feel that accompanies this genre, but they also have a difinitive harmony to them - like an normal song. I HIGHLY reccommend this Album to be purchased for those stressed out moments on the computer and you need something to relax yourself or keep your work ethic up - these songs tend to relax me yet keep me active so I am in a good mood for working on tedious projects on the computer - or elsewhere if I have my Ipod with me.

Individual song reviews:

1: Sun Up - A nice prelude to the Album, but it's just that - a prelude.

2: Milendrical - This is one of the more unique ones on the Album, as the star of the song is a Piano-like instrument. (It sounds a lot like it, but not quite - perhaps a "synthesizer edited" version of a Piano?)

3: Airspace - Airspace is fun to listen to, which the only way I can describe it is the soundtrack to a mid 1990's outer space video game.

4: Quiescent - By far my favorite song on the Album, repetitive but the way it's done is something that I like to listen to usually twice in a row. It's almost as if you are in heaven.

5: Distance - This one is okay in terms of everything else on here - not the best, but it's still good. I really don't know what to say about it.

6: Technicolour - Although my personal least favorite (that's not saying it's bad, though) the names of these songs are very descriptive of what the song is like. It has the techno that sounds like something from an early 1990's video game.

7: Refraction - probably the most relaxing song on here - the first thing that came to mind when I heard this was "lullaby."

8: Wave Thing - What I like about Pete Warren is that he uses variety in his music. In this one the crashing waves of the ocean are accompanied by some instrumental synthesizing, and the exhaling of (his?) breath. Definitely the most different of the bunch.

9: Ice - I don't quite know how to describe these songs. To be honest, the name of these songs is a good enough description of what these songs are. The only way I can really describe this is... well... Ice.

10: Spirals - Once again, it makes me think of Spirals. A cool little feature at the end is that the last thirty seconds or so, the main rhythm/harmony/whatever you want to call it is played in reverse and probably at a slightly faster tempo (speed.)

11: Squid - It sounds underwater like the name implies... right up there with Milendrical, Spirals and Wave Thing as the "unique four" on this Album.

12: Wheat - This is probably my favorite of the "White Noise" songs on the track (Refraction, Wheat, and Lost Static.) It's nice and long, but still comparatively varied in the sounds generated.

13: Insomniac - Probably right above Technicolour in the least favorite category - this person seemingly speaks incoherently for a few brief moments in the song.

14: Lost Static - As the longest song in the Album at 8:20, it is very repetitive, but is easily something I could fall asleep to (an have on one occasion.) Very nice and relaxing.
