Must Listen. Must See.
"I Was Your Shroud" is on constant repeat in my car, iPod and shuffle.
It seems to me that in every generational wave of music, there's one perfect pop song that evokes all the feelings of summer and youth. I think "Island Park" among the best opening songs I've ever heard. Quinn Goodwillie has a gift for flowing lyrics that remind me of the Finn Brothers -- sweet, but a little melancholy. The echoing guitar though kinda resonates like Johnny Marr. Not saying the band sounds like either -- but those influences show throughout the album, and it got my attention at first because as Crowded House and Smiths are among my absolute faves.
Between the general vibe of the album, and tracks like "In Memory Of" and "The Ride Home" -- my friends from high school and college were down over the weekend, and with this CD going much of the time, it brought me back to my junior year of college -- the summer I met my wife.
The strongest tracks on the album are definitely Island Park, Cat or a Horse (there's a funny story behind that track, I'm sure), It Wasn't Darkness and Stay of Execution.
