Love Me Like the Devil

A Delicate, Earnest Record by an Underrated Singer-songwriter!

     

It's a shame that everyone and their sister is now "in a band" or "a singer-songwriter," because all of the mediocrity out there makes it hard for gifted songwriters like Leatherbag to rise to the top. "Love Me..." is a wonderful representation of this Austin, TX songwriter's idiomatic writing style. He's highly prolific (I think he releases 2 or 3 records a year!) and has a bunch of incredible albums and EPs not on iTunes. I recommend that if you like what you're hearing here, you try and hunt down "Norman, OK" and "Kansas City," two amazing tracks from "The Nordic Sea," Leatherbag's second EP. "Kansas City" is a song that I think is borne out of Springsteen's "Nebraska" record, and is as good as any of the tunes on that album. But all in all, this record is a great inro into Leatherbag's work.
