This stuff is not your mainstream fodder....

by Bluefungus

Great sounds and production really bring this music/lyrics/soundscape right into your mind. Definately for those who dig Syd Barrett Floyd and even early David Bowie. Not a copy or clone, but you just know this influenced the music. Glad to have found this artist, very original and genuine with a flourish of late sixties pysche. Will get more of Phideaux for sure, give this a try and if not satisfied, you are far too picky for this world!!! ;-)

I was blown away when I first discovered Phideaux's music, during a time when I felt a lot of so called progressive rock was fairly stale and contrived. This music has everything I look for... great, catchy songwriting and creative production, with a musical depth and subtle complexity that reveals itself more with further listens. The Great Leap is perhaps Phideaux's "edgiest" album, which carries an aggressive intensity throughout. Brings to mind some of the best aspects of bands like Pink Floyd, Jethro Tull, Van Der Graff Generator, and early Genesis but with a fresh and unique personality. Highly Recommended!
