Get Clocked!

One of the few albums I can listen to all the way thru. The songwriting is very strong and the musicians sound really tight, as if they've played together their whole lives. Hard to believe this is only a part-time music project. More proof that Vivian Campbell is the definition of a truly versatile musician who is very good at what he does.

Clock's sound is fairly straightforward : imagine Crowded House meets the Beatles. But it's not contrived at all. The songs are original, relevant, and better than most of what's out there. And this is a compilation of Clock's older stuff, too. I wish Vivian Campbell had more time for side projects like Clock and the remarkable Riverdogs (now there was a sadly underrated band).

FYI: Vivian Campbell does some vocals in addition to playing lead guitar on this album. He does a great job with "To Be Alive", a song also recorded by his full-time band Def Leppard, which proves what a great piece of songwriting it was.

Take Vivian Campbell, guitarist for Def Leppard, Riverdogs, Dio, Whitesnake, Sweet Savage and Shadow King, pair him with Mark Schulman who has drummed with some of the best including Cher and Billy Idol, most recently on tour with Pink, add Sasha Krivstov, bass player for Rock Star INXS House Band, and PJ Smith, an amazing songwriter and singer and you've got a winning combination for a great band! Their song "To Be Alive" is featured on Def Leppard's Euphoria album. Listen to it here with Vivian on the lead vocals, you'll love it. Just a little part time band, they do little touring, but when they do the fans crowd the place! Give it a try, you'll be glad you did!

Years Active: '90s

The British disco-techno outfit Clock was probably best-known for its mass-market cover songs, 1995's house-seasoned reading of Harold Faltermeyer's "Axel F.," and 1997's somewhat electronic reworking of Hot Chocolate's "You Sexy Thing." Interestingly, the brainchild of DJ/producer Stu Allan and Peter...
