It's about time

this record is like any other that i have heard. you can truly play it through without skipping a track. each song is like a well crafted story with accompaniments that groove alongside soft vocals and layers of harmonies. The words of the song "me against the world" really sum up the attitude of the record, she don't care what anyone thinks and turns her back on negativity and this is a refreshing attitude and makes the songs what they are. From the ballads Shoulda, Woulda Coulda and Rescue Me to uptempo poppy numbers such as So complete and No Cure for Love and not forgetting the lead single He Say She Say there is a lot to offer the listener. After writing and producing for other mainstream artists From Brixton to Brooklyn is finally rhoda's turn to get off the sidelines and into the spotlight and it's about time.

First off "From Brixton to Brooklyn" is primarily a Top 40 mix of r+b and pop, nothing out of the ordinary, nothing too distinctive about it, except perhaps the fact that Rhoda does most of the production and writing. Overall it's a good record from an underground artist that clearly has the potential to go far given the right management and record company backing. Tracks such as 'So Complete' and 'Fantasy' show exceptional songwriting skills with catchy hooks and poppy melodies. However there was a lack of decent uptempos. 'You too late' and 'No cure for Love' were poor attempts at club type tracks. Ends on a high note with 'Crazy' my personal favorite
