This record will smoke you dry

by Matthew Lee

The Robot Lords don't pussyfoot around with their influences. The RLoT website lists UFO, Lizzy, Sabbath, Trouble, Down and of course C.O.C. as favorites. But how many times have you read a line like that, then bought the album only to be disappointed by something that sounds nothing like you expected? These guys aren't "experimenting" with known quantities. This record is a masterfully crafted combination of all that stuff, in a tasteful way that maintains the integrity of what our forefathers rocked before us. If there's one thing that I thought was a little unusual, it's that the quality of the recording is a little slick. I would like to hear this band produced like an old Motorhead or Saxon record. Nice problem to have though. The songs are strong and the recording is really clear. Do it now.

these guys turn out some good heavy metal

well i'm not one for all out heavy metal but I know the lead singer, Paul, in RLoT, from our high school days and from his days with RLoT first band, Green Sky Grey. I always like GSG with Paul playing sax, his instrument of choice back in the hay day of the early 90's. Wow, what a long time ago that was! But give this album a listen. Vocals are strong, guitar is all out and they put together what will hopefully turn into a long venture for these guys! Keep of the metal and spread the music!
