Even Hotter Water

I got this album today couple hours ago at the Scottish Festival. I'm liking it. I'm listening to it right now. I do play the fiddle but I don't play the hammered dulcimer like Brenda. Ain't because I hate it. I also play piano, guitar, mandolin, ukulele, cello, viola, rarely harmonica and recorder and I also sing. U3R good. I do like celtic a lot. I also like bluegrass, country, Hawaiian, classical, opera, jazz, blues, rock and roll from the 60s and everything else except for Rap and Hip-Hop.

Don't let the weird opening track scare you off--

--it's the only misstep on the whole album. This little indie Celtic group from Bakersfield, CA, have really outdone themselves this time! The moods run the gamut from eerily haunting melodies such as "Miss Gordon of Gight" to rollicking sets of jigs and reels that make you just want to dance, such as "Comb Sonja" and "Merrily Kiss the Quaker." Despite using entirely acoustic, traditional instruments, they manage a playful, laid-back, and downright modern approach to what can be musty, folksy material. You don't have to like Celtic music (although it helps) to enjoy this one--as long as you appreciate a well-performed acoustic album, this one's for you.
