one of my favorite albums of all time

This band has more than just pure technical skill with their instruments. Their songwriting and performances show passion and personality. "Invention," while acoustic, is one of my all-time favorite songs.

This album has romance ("Make Believe"), it has goofiness ("Art School Girl"), and it has sentimentality ("Michigan"). Yeah, they've got skill, but their talent is in their versatility. I'm excited to hear their new album, Northern Sky, now that they've added new members!

Amazing

I just saw these guys at St. Martins Lutheran Church, and they were awesome! I loved them so much!! I never really listened to this kind of music before, but when I heard them and my friends Destination Truth I was hooked. I hope to here another CD soon!

More than meets the eye, or the ear

"Drake" is a hommage to the singer songwriter, Nick Drake, and may have helped formed these musicians, but he is also their point of departure. Drake is an original.

These singer/songwriters/musicians are originals. I can't see them ever allowing anyone to neatly file them into any genre or style.
Hearing them live, you see them evolving, but you don't get the sense that this is "early work". It's got depth, originality, and heart, but never crosses the line into sentimental. The songs chronicles everything from sweet, pure innocence to raw, eyes wide open experience. A accomplishment for artists so young.
The beauty is in the details...the heart-wringing sighs of the solo violin near the end of "Kenneth", a archetypal piece that echos all the way back The Original Fall and loss of innocence in Eden, catastrophic, yet so human and so universal.
