Wonder

by Kurohi

I met Wendy Rule on a summer night. I was at a huge arts and music festival called the Oregon Country Faire, which has it's roots in 60's Hippie festivals, and Rennaisance Faires that were held on that site. I was in my tent, and this incredible voice starts singing in the dark, lit by stars, and candles and lanterns, and holidays lights like fireflies. That voice was magic unleashed, unbound, and I followed it.
She was this tiny raven haired woman with an old guitar, in my friend's candlelit bower, sitting on an old tattered persian rug. Wearing gypsy clothes in white, red and black. With these electric eyes, and this voice that pulled me, and others in from the darkness to hover in at the edges of the light. She sang for us, because she wanted to, because she needed to. A Bard in the truest sense...I got to hear a Live version of this album and parts of others. Live and initmate as one could ask. She is, in a word, a wonder. An Australian born singer who is a modern day Gypsy, with a voice that purrs and wails and sobs, and draws you completely in. She is worth a listen if nothing else.
