because less is more.

by Janeil S. Lim (rock critic)

the health club's first album ironically titled "outtakes and rarities" is a mixture of really cool sing-along anthems. from the opening track "muse from venus" to the last one "the good days" , the health club take you in a wonderful journey into a musical landscapes of what is good with pop music. their is a sense of familiarity to their songs which for me is a good thing. the lack of pretentiousness that is inherent on their sound is a very good quality especially since most bands in in los angeles tend to be cramming their sound with so much "experimentalism". the health club is a good example of the possibilities that lie in the simplest of things. it is giving yo so much with doing so little. songs like "fragile" and "steak knives" are really very catchy and tend to be a good listen while driving in los angeles traffic. this is a band who is confident in the music that they make and apparently have no qualms about being unique, which in a way makes them stand out. people should listen to this album in its all entiret and see the band live to see how their songs translate from their live sets. this is musical zen at its best. orenfuckingrock!
