worth every penny
by a. steihGuiltily I admit that I took a listen to steve carlson only after wondering what jensen ackles sounded like. turns out, the previous album was fantastic, and this follow up (groovin on the inside) is even better. A little more rock and a little less country and the lyrics still hold true. His voice is strong and rugged and it pulls you into the melody. This cd is a wonderful way to treat yourself.
What a great talent!
by lenastocktonI first heard of Steve Carlson about six months ago as half of the group Kane he formed with the actor Christian Kane. Steve’s voice is gentle and slightly raspy at times, transitioning between Rock and Country as if the two genres have always lived in the same pocket. At times he even sounds a bit like Dave Mathews and I find myself double checking what I’m listening to.
‘Pinata Novia’ is a gorgeous song that appears on all three of Steve’s albums, but the great thing about it is that there are different versions on each. On this album there is a full orchestration with what sounds like a cello solo that gives the song a completely romantic feel.
I also like the songs ‘Hole In Me’ and ‘The One I Want’ that are both slower. ‘Wasted Jamie’ is another favorite and even though I can’t confirm it, I believe that Jensen Ackles (of Supernatural and Dark Angel fame) is singing backup on the track. He and Steve are friends and Jensen, who has a beautiful voice, also sang on Steve’s ‘Spot In the Corner’ album.
Gotta Hear This
by GwendolynfaireI've been a long time fan of Steve's, and Groovin' on the Inside doesn't disappoint. I really like She's Not There, I've seen Steve perform this live many times so it's great to see it on this CD.
