In the Pocket
by BillBellInnovative and in the pocket. Straight groove/out-there latin funk. I studied with drummer Colin Douglas 15 years ago. He was a percussionistic role model then, and continues to tread new ground with the other members of P23.
Excellent blend of jamband soul groove and Cuban Timba
by AlexeyBThe CD sounds really good - great playing and a great job mixing and editing. Even the overdubs fit on quite unobtrusively. It's a kickin recording and I'm really digging it. I especially took note of the creative use of bata, the bass effects, the unobtrusive but creative dj additions, the keyboard patches, the rock solid traps, and the overall incredible impact of just 4 musicians (plus additions). It reminded me of the Headhunters recordings, but at times more better and modern. Fine, fresh, independent work.
