Simple and beautiful...
by WyrdBidFulAraedI can't say anything bad about a single one of these songs. This is celtic music at it's finest, in my opinion. Plus, I've been looking for a decent version of Black Davie's Ride forever, and I've finally found an amazing one! Kudos to the group for putting out such a fine piece of music.
A Magical Recording
by Elven Queen of Sticks and StringsThis is one of my top 10 favorite recordings in my collection (which is extensive!). It's one of a very few that I never get tired of hearing again and again. The musicianship is top quality, and the mood spirits you away to another time and place, a place of magic and wonder. The lyrics are intelligent, as are the arrangements, and the women's voices are lovely, especially their harmonies. If you don't buy this one, you're missing something really special. Particularly - but not exclusively - recommended for those with Pagan leanings. This has one of the best covers of "The Great Selkie" that I've heard, equalled only by the one from Solas. "Black Davie's Ride" sends (pleasurable) chills down my back. "Andray Soulet" has a Middle-Eastern sound to it. In trying to list the best songs on this CD, I was unable to choose. They are all outstanding. "Reborn" is the weakest song here, but that's relative - on any other CD, it would be one of the best. It's simply that here, it must compete with so many other songs that are even better.
