And this remark-better than any bio, clearer than any photograph-explains what this thiry-something, Alabama-born singer/songwriter is all about.
Not looking to become the next big thing, not attracted by the assmebly line disposable musical fads, Chandler instead has targeted the hearts and minds of regular people gamely living out their lives in all corners of this country. Without knowing them -yet somehow understanding so much about them -Chandler writes and sings irresistible slices of truth, in all its warm, sad, funny, heartbreaking, angry, chaotic, and beautiful forms.
Stylistically, Chandler falls somewhere between the earnest American rock of Tom Petty and the wry, mysterious storytelling of Tom Waits. His melodies are individually his own and yet feel immediately familiar and comfortable.
