Darkon - Worth Every Penny!!!
by AWCBJohn Rapino’s haunting, melodic score for the feature documentary, Darkon, pulls you into a world populated by your fantasies. The music is patient, but energized with the passion of the men and women that charge into battle on the apocalyptic terrain of suburban soccer fields in this darkly whimsical look inside the world of a Baltimore society of role players that spend their lives traversing the boundary between reality and… something else. This music takes you there: where it’s possible to rise above the commonplace, to leave everything you know behind for the life of a sorcerer, a warlord, a hero.
Ok, enough with the poetics! Sorry… I just really love this documentary! It’s the first of its kind and, after I saw it, I knew that it was on to something. Documentaries with this kind of honesty, and with this kind of excitement, are really rare. So, of course, I was thrilled to see that iTunes picked up the soundtrack! Reminiscent of the larger than life scores for epic adventure films like Lord of the Rings and 300, the music is worth it, but you’ll love it even more if you see the movie. No joke, you should check it out!
