Got to see it live, but if you can't...
by SqueedleThis music is medicine and Brass Menazeri are top physicians. Anybody who isn't inspired to get up and dance after listening to this has no soul :) I should add even more fun to play yourself as it is to listen!

The thing about Balkan brass music...
by Warszawianka...is that it's everything I wanted marching band to be in high school. I was so tired of lame Hal Leonard Publishing band arrangements, you know, A-B-bridge-A-B-A type of stuff, all in the same key. But when your school's arts are underfunded and you don't have enough people to do really big stiff, what can you do? You dream of being in a big college marching band like Michigan or Penn State, or a Really Cool College Band like Florida A&M, Grambling, or Jackson State. But you remain bored and restless, eventually graduating and moving on to other, non-marching stuff ... until, that is, you encounter Balkan brass music, and your head explodes. Irregular rhythms, weird scales, everything that those lame high school band arrangements weren't. So, yes, Balkan brass music is unlike anything out there, and the Brass Menažeri does it incredibly well. This band has taken the Balkan scene in the Bay Area by storm, and with one listen to this CD, you'll understand why. Now, I must get back to those 7/8 tunes in C minor hijaz...
