The South's sultriest contribution to filk music yet!

by CajunGypsy

If you don't know what filk music is, listening to this lady's lilting voice, nimble keyboarding and inventive songcraft will make you a fan of it, guaranteed. Mary Crowell is an artist we'll be hearing a lot more from (and about)—count on it.

The sound that sparked a revolution in filk music

by AdamOfWeirdChicago

With a two song appearance at a convention some years back, Mary Crowell, The Mad Doctor of Alabama, invented a whole new genre - torch filk (some were calling it "tirch," but it never quite caught on). But this is not an album of filk songs (well, it sort of is - this is sort of like saying a magic realism book is not a fantasy book) - it's a jazzy, sultry album by a killer songwriter with first rate musical tops thrown into the bargain. The absolute only reason to complain about this album is that it didn't come out ages ago.
