Album Review

Fans of hammer dulcimer music will welcome the news that Scott Williams has another release on MP3.com, this one titled Road to Lisdoonvarna Castle. From the lively, upbeat "Blarney Pilgrim," to the melodious and ringing "Whiskey Before Breakfast," as well as the title song, Williams' touch on the hammer dulcimer is deft and sure. Just about everyone who does Ren Fests performs "A Soulin'" at some point, yet Williams gives it his own distinctive touch, with an attention-catching and evocative arrangement, including percussion from the udu, an African clay pot drum. This one definitely merits repeat play, as indeed does the whole CD. These six song samplers are an enjoyable introduction to the Williams' work for new listeners, and an affordable way to add more hammer dulcimer selections to listeners' collections as well. All of Scott Williams' work is definitely recommended.

Wonderfully Soothing

This album is wonderful as are Scott's other two albums. I heard him play in San Diego around Christmas time and was just mezmorized by the sound. It was his rendition of Nothing Else Matters that caught my attention and then I was hooked.

Sings right to your core

It's so relaxing to listen to this kind of work, especially on this particular instrument. I saw this guy in Disneyland just playing for the people. I stood there for a good half an hour. It was beautiful, as is the rest of his cd.
