Mature Stylings from a seasoned Artist
by IrishFrauI have had the pleasure of following Mr. Church's music career from his humble beginnings with a small band in Memphis, TN. His prowess with the acoustic guitar and heartfelt, insightful lyrics have always been prevalent, but are highlighted on his freshman solo effort. Songs like 'Circle on the Sea' and 'What Was Going On' emphasize Church's thoughtful reflection on the overarching themes in life and, backed by his skilled guitar stylings, make a for a smooth and comforting acoustical journey. Backed by evidently talented colleagues, the shift toward a partnership between his acoustic roots and more prominent electric sound is a welcome and pleasing marriage of raw talent and artistic maturity.
Five stars for Mr. Church. Here's hoping for a follow-up sophomore outing!
