Some very fine music
by ProsellisThere isn't a lot of modern music that makes my jaw drop. This is one that did. After seeing the trio at the 2008 Jazz and Heritage festival, I knew that there was something very special about this group. This is certainly not for the beginning jazz listener, but for those that have spent a little time getting into more edgy jazz this will be a definite reward. There are some amazing rhythmic interplay between Ozaki and Drake, and the melodic and harmonic choices Wagner puts out front show an inspired imagination and thought process. I would put this in my top ten jazz recordings of the last five years for sure.
