by rotoRosaJeff Sanford has his Raymond Scott orchestrations nailed. It seems that every single member of the orchestra is a stellar soloist, too. It's difficult to relay the Scott Estate sound to people without mentioning "Looney Tunes". Call it insane vaudeville, call it a slice of life in bustling NY of the 20s. This live recording is outstanding in many ways: It's not overproduced and the big band seems to be sitting right in your living room. No annoying glass clinking, chatter, or anything of that nature. It sounds like a studio recording with a really excited, yet respectful audience. I play this CD a lot! For myself or at parties. This one is a keeper!
