Has Potential, but Wait a Year or Two, Dremora.

Okay, let's take it from the top... none of these songs are really all that catchy, and they almost sound empty and vaccant. Not much emotion. Plus, the composer of these songs seems to have no skill or talent in the craft what-so-ever. The vocals are below average. However, this being said, I also believe they have potential. The vocals could be improved, and have potential. I believe the band has musical talent, and can play their instruments and support themselves, but the actual songs themselves are ... well, pretty lame. I believe Dremora could get off the ground, but not with a couple more years under their belt. Now, let's rate it song by song...
"Alone" - I actually like this track. It actually does have a chorus that sticks with you, but it possesses that same empty feeling that the rest of the songs own. If the vocals were improved, this would be a great song! This song: 3/5 Stars.
"Martyrs and Madmen" - Nice guitar intro. Has some heavy qualities to it. Has some more emotion to it than the other songs. Again, the vocals could be improved. 3/5
"Fair Haven" - For some reason, the style of the chorus of this song reminds me of Nightwish's "Wishmaster". This song probably has the most empty sound, in my opinion. The song is only a little below average untill the end of the song. During the last few minutes, some male vocals set in. I don't know if they were going for some Death Metal-type approach, or Grindcore, or what, but whatever it was, they failed miserably here. 2/5.
"Transcending God" - This is just a song. No lyrics. It's actually a very nice piece though. This is the band at it's best. The composer did a great job here. The background, atmospheric-feel of the vocaling is great in this song. Now, if Dremora could make a song like this, but give it lyrics and some better vocals, they'd be getting off the ground. That can easily be improved in a year or so though.

Overall, the band is decent. The only downside is the not-so-great compositions and the under-developed female vocals. (They should axe out the male vocals completely.) If they rewrite "Fair Haven", and just tweak "Alone" and "Martyrs and Madmen", giving it a thicker, heavier sound with some improved vocals, this would be a great album. Improve Dremora, and don't give up - you have potential!
