A True Connection
by ilikemyrealnameThis band has changed a part of my life. Their songs are passionate about moving on and being one with those around you. Sometimes that's all it takes to help me get out of my own head is just realizing that life can be good and is worth taking on. This band helps me see that life can be amazing.
Awesome
by MSG43Both the lyrics and music are some of the freshest in decades. There music does not fit any particular mold which is what makes it so good and they clearly are masters of their instruments. A must buy for fans of any type of music. I'd have to say riding the raven home and falling stars are my favorites, but all are amazing
Amazing acoustic rock! One of the best records of the year!
by CrossfireSLTempus is one of the most original bands I have heard in some time! If necessary, you could compare them to The Fray or Dave Matthews Band, but even that would not do Tempus's original sound any justice - they are simply incredible. The songs are beautifully written. Chris Harvey's voice is crisp and full of emotion. Additionally, the band member's use of the drums, piano, bass, and guitar are both skillful and precise. The aforementioned have come together perfectly to craft a record that has not left my CD player in weeks!
1) If I Could - 8.9/10 Not the strongest on the album. but a good introduction to set the tone of what is to come.
2) Get Up Get Out - 9.2/10 The drum beat at the beginning of the song makes the track.
3) Got a Good Feeling - 9.7/10 "So much for honesty..." The title track is one of the best on the album. This could very well be a hit single, as it has a universal appeal with a great sound and meaningful lyrics.
4) You're Not Alone - 9.6/10 Instrumentally, this song is probably one of the best on the record. Although the overall meaning of this song is amazing, several lines are too generic.
5) Already Leaving - 10/10 BEST SONG! This is my personal favorite. It is the also the song which would get Tempus some airtime on the radio. The guitar work is mesmerizing and everyone can relate to the song in one way or another. PERFECT!
6) Suddenly - 8.4/10 Starts off great, but is a bit too long and repetitive...
7) I'll Never Know - 8.5/10 Great song, but does not compare to some of the other offerings.
8) Spiders Everywhere - 8.3/10 One of two instrumental songs on the record, but it's too eclectic for my tastes. Fun song and takes some getting use to.
9) Who Am I - 9.3/10 Haunting recording with perfect balance of emotion and lyrical quality. The song picks up and rocks hard.
10) Here in My Head - 9.5/10 Great slow song which gives the record additional emotion and another layer of depth to Tempus.
11) Riding the Raven Home - 9.4 Awesome song which has great lyrics and emotional instrumentation. It's a long song but this one is a pleasure to listen to the entire way. "Even Heroes make mistakes..."
12) Falling Stars - 9.9/10 Amazing piano work to compliment the beautiful song. It is great for anyone who has ever loved and lost. It is slower song, but probably the best written on the album.
13) Trust Me - 8.4/10 One of the most unique songs on the album which is a bit too long.
14) So Far Gone - 8.3/10 Good, but not the best Tempus has to offer. There are some awesome instrumental sections, which carry the song. The water at the end leads perfectly into my second favorite song on the album…
15) On My Way – 10/10 One word can describe this entire song: phenomenal. I say that this is my second favorite due only to the fact that it is instrumental and would never get played on the radio. Although there are several lines of beautiful lyrics (“It’s alright. It’s OK…Never quite meant things to end this way…”), it is primarily an instrumental song which builds itself up as it goes along with the addition of the new instruments. The addition of the drums at 2:05 is the best part. Excellent closing track to one of my favorite albums of the year!
OVERALL: 9.5/10 (Not an Average)
