A Fresh take on a Kids Album!
by teddy booWe listen to a fair amount of kid's music in our household, with a 2 and a 5 year old. Some of it is good and fun, but much of it is pretty grating to listen to. Plus, it seems that 90% of kids and family releases out there are of the folky acoustic variety. Our own listening tastes lean to mellow chillout music like Bebel Gilberto, and Zero 7, so this album is a revelation for us! It really is classy, and expertly produced (being downtempo lovers, we already know Cordovan from his tracks on compilations with artists like Tosca, Thievery Corp., Norah Jones, and many more and remixes of Sarah Vaughan, etc.)
We use it at bedtime and also at playtime. Just turn it up a few notches and the groove factor comes to the forefront. (We even play some of it at cocktail parties for our hipster friends and they love it.)
The versions of "Somewhere Over the Rainbow", "When You Wish Upon a Star" and "Hush" are worth the price alone. Very nice.
