love this sound!!

You’ve got to see this band live. Never heard of them before I just happened to see their show, and they totally blindsided me with the amazing harmonies and full sound. It sounds like 10 people are playing, but it’s actually 5. The guitarist can really play and his solos are one of the high points. But it’s all so good. I just bought the album and each song is so different and strong. They have a really great range. They really capture this old bluesy rock spirit without sounding like they are trying to imitate. I can’t recommend this album highly enough!!

Do I love this album? Yes.

I first heard these guys on KCRW in LA, and had to hear more. This album far exceeded my expectations, with every track a gem. (except for the second track, which seems to lag a bit.) Finally, a band that allows themselves to be influenced by great American music without being shackled to the dustbins of the past. The songs smell fresh but strangely familiar, like a newly-washed ancient quilt. A truly new sound from a truly great band. Expect a rousing cadence, rooms full of harmony, inspired guitar work. I'm guessing they are pretty good live too....judging from their website it seems they tour a lot. If these guys don't get some recognition soon, I'd be very suprised. And I'd probably start listening to something other than music in protest, like leafblowers or maybe stopwatches.

See them live too!

i saw this band in Denver this past Saturday in the basement rec room of a church that i had never even noticed before, and they were incredible. The singer told me afterwards they had never had to play this quiet before, and the keyboardist was playing a janky old upright piano for the first time! WOW. they started out quiet and brooding with a song i had never heard before and then they just exploded with a rollicking "Swallowed a Pill", the 1st song on the album and the one i always hear on KCRW. The show blew my mind, and i play their cd at home daily. buy this record, and see them play if you can.
