Soul claps hands and sings and louder sings for each tatter in its mortal dress.

Simply great -

by Herbaceous

F-ing fabulous effort from St.Louis' champs of raw-tunage. The musical capture of a gutteral trek thru the disintegration of a relationship, along with full evidence of healing and a future. Chechik's songwriting is consistent and surprisingly positive without the brooding torture that the subject matter could (should?) require. Entire cd maintains the richness and depth that the cool cover art conveys. Let Ryan Adams curl into his fetal hysterionics and Jeff Tweedy reinvent himself as Count Chocula...as Melody Den provides evidence that the midwest King can chisel the next notch in real rock.

Honest rock & roll, like the Brits made in '72

by Stereocourier

Some twang, but this is a guitar rock album, with some psych-riffs, and a tight rhythm section. Chechik writes with feeling, wit and sincerity--and he sings like he means every heart-stinging line. Fans of Sticky Fingers-era Stones, REM, Crazy Horse and Son Volt--welcome to your new favorite band.
