Love this album!!!
by BrieBrie1820This is seriously one of the best albums I've ever heard. Tony B has an awesome voice, and the band is swinging! My favorites are 'Till There Was You', 'Watch What Happens', and 'I've Got The World On A String'. I don't think there's one bad track on here actually, which is rare. I'd never heard of Tony B's music before, but I was blown away by this album. I'm so happy I bought this.
Great Jazz Vocal Album
by RockestraI discovered this fine album a few years back when I saw Tony Babino (Tony B.) perform live in Atlantic City. “Swingin’ Around With Tony B.” fuses absolutely brilliant musicianship with Tony’s incredible, versatile vocals. It’s a jazz album of the highest standard; think John Coltrane & Johnny Hartman, with a little Nat King Cole Trio, Bobby Darin and Frank Sinatra influence thrown in. “I’ve Got The World On A String” is stunning, and is quite possibly the best version of the song I’ve ever heard. “Swingin’ Around” showcases four original compositions as well, including the title track “Swingin’ Around”, “I Wish I Could Sing Like Sinatra”, “Sentimental Heartstrings”, and “Fifty Years”. Being a huge Beatle fan, when I heard Tony perform “And I Love Her” live, I was blown away not only by the performance, but by the arrangement as well. Therefore, I had to check out the CD. Well, I was pleasantly surprised to say the least. This album is just begging to be discovered, and it’s a shame more people don’t know about it. Actually, I’m surprised iTunes doesn’t have Tony’s two other albums yet... and, I’m also confused as to why this is categorized as ’pop’ music. Hopefully someone will fix that. In closing, I’d like to leave you with this quote by Sid Bernstein, located on the back of my “Swingin’ Around” CD case: “From the first moment that I heard the sound of Tony B. singing “I’ve Got The World On A String”, some of the most wonderful musical memories of my life were stirred up once again.” Buy this album…you won’t regret it.
