KNIGHTRIDERS memories...

by Roguewriter

I'm not a huge fan of the soft hippie croonfests of yesteryore. Jim Croce holds no interest for me; I never gave a damn that James Taylor had seen a) fire and b) rain. But I AM a huge fan of George A. Romero films, particularly the unsung indie flick KNIGHTRIDERS, in which a young Ed Harris and his band of merry knights go jousting across the countryside... on motorcycles. Give it a look, if you haven't seen it. Donald Rubenstein, brother of KNIGHTRIDERS (and other Romero films) producer RIchard Rubenstein, had a small role in the film, and wrote some memorable music for it, including the track "I'd Rather Be a Wanderer." It would spoil the film's magic to identify how it's used in the movie... but rest assured, it's gonna leave you reeling. That says a lot for such a quiet, plinking throwback of a number. Okay, maybe there was something to the 60s after all... Rubenstein makes me want to give it another chance. Great album!
