Music duo Max Drummey and D.A. Wallach named their band after Daniel Chester French, the man who created the Lincoln Memorial. “Bebe Buell” bounces with witty words that sardonically pine for a meaningful relationship with a backstage groupie described as a “Puerto Rican Pamela Lee.” Most other songs on Love the Future are ambitious attempts to tailor power pop with baroque instrumentation, electro flourishes, analogue synths, and lyrics that are heady and educated without bordering on pedantic. “Fingers” is a delightful piece of psychedelic piano pop that recalls the playful sophistication of Emitt Rhodes and the Left Bank with stormy orchestral accompaniment (contrasted with a cartoonish lap steel) that successfully approximates ‘60s chamber pop. “She Loves Everybody” is a perfect song for anyone who ever wished that Roxy Music had more songs like “Love Is The Drug.” “C’mon (On My Own)” is contagious, contemporary, radio pop with the same youthful energy as Fountains of Wayne or Weezer – only still younger and more energetic.

I like steak sandwiches, so I spend $8 pretty frequently. This $8 is nourishment for my soul, and that's really priceless. Get some nourishment FOLKS!
Amazing Debut Album: "Love The Future"
One pet peeve I have with kids these days, is that they love for their favorite bands to be their little secret. Once a band is on MTV, they lose all "cred" they may have once possessed. To these kids, I say "F**k you." because I found these 2 little gems, that combined are known as Chester French, via MTV. Short clips between shows of "She Loves Everybody", "The Jimmy Choos", and "C'mon (On My Own)" were so undeniably fantastic, I had to look into these guys further. So to myspace I went, and let me tell you. Within this short period of time, I can surely say, that Chester French has a fan for life in me. I can't even describe how excited I was for "Love The Future" to come out, and now it is here! From the beautiful "Introduction" where DA Wallach serenades us in another language to, debateably my favorite track on the album, "Sleep", Chester French takes us on a ride. And never once on this ride do you feel the need to skip a song. Interludes aren't usually my thing, but I love them on this album. I don't feel as though they did them just for thhe sake of doing them. They tie in with the overall scheme of the album. Stand-Out Tracks: Not Over You Bebe Buell Country Interlude Sleep Songs to Skip: NONE! Are you crazy? This album has set the bar very high for the year of 2009, and I'm not sure if any other artists will be able to reach it. Congrats on an amazing first effort, Chester French.
