Album Review

From the same streets as the Dictators, and possessing the same lighthearted-but-heavy-souled gutter grind as Handsome Dick's clique, the Giraffes detract from the seminal proto-punks by actually embracing the '70s Stonehenge schlock that those primordial punks held their noses at. "Manchester United," with its flamenco-staccato riffing and spaghetti western delivery, stands out as the most unique statement on a disc that contents itself with sloppy guitars atop plodding rhythms below smart-allecky singing styles. Even when they fail, it's still good for a laugh, and you're laughing with the Giraffes, not at them. ~ Brian O'Neill, All Music Guide
