Velvet Fog?

by oucutie

Although that tag was attached to his style, there was nothing foggy about Mel Torme! Shoot, he was the whole weather machine wrapped up in one package. There was nothing he couldn't do as the tracks of this album so aptly demonstrate. He could croon the ballads with the best of them, he could "scat" like no other and his collaboration over the years with George Shearing produced some of the best jazz records known to man. Every track on this album is a must have for the serious jazz collector. Rather than review each track, I will only say that each one is presented perfectly as only Mel Torme can. Torme is a national treasure and should be in every jazz lovers collection. Track #2 says it perfectly. I love Torme (and you will too.)
