by Joey NelsonThis album contains thick beats and heavy lyrics. Imani Coppola's second album is addictive. The album is thoughtful, lighthearted, heavy, and dramatic. The album is full of catchy but intelligent songs. “These Days” is thoughtful prose set to a different kind of ballad. The title track, “Afrodite,” will pull your attention with its ecstatic desires and laughable sarcasm. “Gravity” is full of wit and has a baseline that even the most dance-phobic person cannot avoid. Reminiscent of Chupacabra, “Reality Radio” mocks an era of entertainment in pure Coppola fashion. If you want an album to dance to, to drive to, or to sing to, Afrodite will “Satisfy.”
