...It's Only Rock 'n' Roll, But I Like It!

by Steve Zodiac

I had to check out this CD after downloading the Rocking Scoundrels excellent "Motorbikes, Rock 'n' Roll & Speed" album. "You Need an Attitude to Rock 'n' Roll" has the same fun, high-energy, guitar driven catchy songs, but a little more punk-edged; think 'AC/DC' meets 'The Who' meets 'Green Day.' The album opener "You Need an Attitude to Rock 'n' Roll" is a rawkus rocker containing the bands signature tongue-in-cheek lyrics. "Once a Rocker Always a Rocker" will leave you singing the chorus for days after and "Dead of Night" reminds me of the British "NWOBHM" era (you 80's rockers should get the reference). There are plenty of different styles reflected on this album from the Stonesy "Happy Dog" to the AC/DC-ish 'Dirty Booze' and “Wrong Side of the Moon”, to the punk-infused "I Cant Survive." The last song on the CD "Rock 'n' Roll Sleigh Ride" is a real gem of a yuletide rocker (for those of you familiar with Slade's "Merry Xmas Everybody," you'll know what I mean), it's a song you will want to play LOUD every Christmas to be sure!
This band really 'sounds' like they are having fun - it definitely rubs off on the listener as you will find yourself singing along and pumping your fist to the choruses in no time!
As the saying goes; “It's only rock 'n' roll, but I like it” - enough said.
