If only I could rate one song

by Jody F

A soulful voice and well crafted music try hard to round out clever but uninteresting lyrics. This collection of songs seem to have a point, but the album doesn't know what it is. Add in the abrupt jumping back and forth from a happy pop to a mellow and almost blues like soul and it becomes hard to listen through from first track to last. Taken one track at a time, and in it's own mood, each one has merit.

All in all a pleasant listen, but nothing much to write home about, save one track; Time Falling down is, by itself, reason enough to own this album. Like an old blanket making you feel safe and warm but reminding you of the pains from your past, listening to this song takes you through the sorrow, and joy that love can be. Showing that it isn't where you end up, but how you got there that is important.

If sampling bits of a journey that don't quite connect isn't your thing then skipping the album as a whole might be for the best, but do yourself the favor of partaking of the third track. If only to remind yourself what well chosen words can do to your soul.
