Amongst commercial pop; an artist
by gapodIf you grew up liking the Smiths or David Bowie or are simply looking for a change from the junk that record companies push out into the music 'market' as commercially acceptable; this collection of songs is a treat.
Lyrically clever and thoughtful (however not too taxing on the mind) - Craig somehow manages to throw few-liners at you that'll end up singing in the shower. Then you'll go back and listen to figure out the detail of the song and uncover a distorted humor that is only possible from someone who has been there and done that. Probably not unlike yourself. If you are a guy it is very easy to relate to these songs.
My personal favorites are My Muse, Get Well Card and Handcut Puzzle. Something about every Craig album though... he does what The Cure and Morrissey does: includes a killer end-song (sometimes it's not the last song though - it's the one with a healthy instrumental).
I am amazed that this guy hasn't made himself famous as this decades Bowie. Maybe he needs a physical persona to show off alongside the power of his music?
