Why Are They Still A Secret?
by Clint DavisGrowing up around the Trenton and Middletown Ohio area (hometown of The Family Secret), I was lucky enough to become familiar with this group years ago while they had Uncle Daddy attached to their name. With their three previous releases they always had such a fresh blend of folk and bayou music that kept getting stronger with each release. On this album, Rob Hoffman showcases some of his finest songwriting to date most notably on the beautiful ballad "St. Michael". With this record, the group achieved a very polished sound in both recording quality and musicianship that surpasses their previous albums. If you're a fan of feel-good music written by real down-to-earth people, The Family Secret is an awesome choice. They are one group that I will never get tired of listening to and will always wonder why in god's name they are still such a secret.
