Against the Grain -- a MUST-HAVE
by TundraDwellerAfter having his other cds (SHAME and LEGENDS DINER) for a few years, it was exciting to find a new Rick Monroe cd available. He offers an impressive lineup here...One More, I Remember the Music, Midnight Rider, Runaway are not to be missed! The poignant song Grace brings back memories of my own childhood Grace. All the songs are worth listening to...over and over again...there's no "filler" on here.
The evolution of Rick!
by Ordinary JoeWhen I first heard Rick I liked his music. But after repeatedly listening to this CD, I LOVE Rick's Music now. "I Remember The Music" is a great song and Rick sings it with all the gusto that his fans have come to know and love at his shows! I look forward to his next release with eager anticipation!
Against the Grain
by GatorfanThis CD shows how Rick has matured as a songwriter and as an artist. I love and still listen to his first CD "Legend's Diner." I can hear elements of his earlier work in this CD even though his genre has changed. It is not always wise for a new artist to cover a classic like "Midnight Rider" but Rick did anyway and I am sure that any fan of the Allman Bros. would agree that his version is a great compliment to the original. This CD has a nice mix of songs and emotions and can be revisited often without becoming stale. Other cuts that I liked in particular include "Type of Guy," "Grace" and "Dancehall King."
