Great vocals distinguishes this band.
by Jaz181I love listening to and especially dancing live to this band. They are tight, super tight as an orchestra, but the thing that sets them apart for me is the leader's voice - it's so rich and real and has true emotion in every song so that when I'm dancing to it I feel that special "ah isn't life beautiful" feeling. Giving them Four stars means excellent (5 is for earthshattering, sorry)
This is a wonderful Salsa CD
by ZippyMadre Rumba Padre Son is a worldclass effort by a local San Francisco band! I saw them live on a trip out there and was knocked out by their performance. The quality of the compositions on this record is very high, not simply relying on all the standard worn out salsa chord progressions but with lots of interesting variations to listen to.
The horn section is all trombones (in the classic tradition) and these guys are ALL excellent! They totally nail from the first note to the last and I play in a salsa band (Tropicoso) so I should know! The musicianship on the rest of the album is flawless as well!
This CD is danceable AND listenable all the way through, I totally recommend it!
What a Great Band, What a Great CD!!
by DJ MaracaiboI saw this band in San Francisco, at café Cocomo, not too long ago. What impressed me the most about them, besides their great talent (all of them) is that they had huge ammounts of energy!! The band lider was out of CDs that night, so I was very glad to find it available here.
The music rocks, there is a variety of rythms to please everybody and the lyrics of the original songs are profound.
This CD will make you dance and think at the same time.
