Artichoke reads Biographies so you don't have to..

This album is not only brilliant in it's concept... but flawless in it's execution. It's part power-pop record part history lesson. Hook after hook after hook, while deftly avoiding any power-pop cliches (unlike my review writing I'm sure). No lame songs about broken hearts or new girlfriends, just a lot of trivia about well known (and lesser-known) scientists throughout history, set to some of the best guitar rock I've heard in a long time. The arrangements are pretty clever too. It's not always your standard verse-chorus-verse stuff. There are plenty of twists to keep the songs interesting. Lyrically, the singer does a great job of cramming the juiciest bits of information and just enough "LaLaLa's" and "Come On!"s into a 3 minute pop song. Anything that combines my love of increasing my repertoire of possible pretentious party conversation topics and a well-written song gets 5 stars from me!

Utterly Brilliant

Who hasn't dreamed of learning about the lives of scientists through song? And through rocking, melodic songs, at that? Geek and cool have come together in this tour-de-force that you really must hear to understand how essential it is for any music collection. Listen to a bit of "Galileo" and see what you think!

fun and informative

this cascade of colidascopic sound is amazing, it will teach you as well as keep your foot tapping (and when did a history lesson on Galileo ever do that?) Now all I ask is when does vol 2 come out?
