Beyond the Frame by Jennifer Lee
by wrdwzrdgrlLike many artists that are underpopularized, jennifer Lee gives an outstanding performance on this album. Her sound is similar to a collaboration of Tori Amos, Alanis Morisette, and Shawn Colvin. If you like any of these artists, you will enjoy the efforts put forth on this album. I enjoyed her soft, yet powerful lyrics and accompaniment with the piano. Very melodic. And unlike many albums, every song is a gem. This one is worth listening to.
The most moving recording I've heard in decades
by epicenter-jdI am a big fan of confessional songwriting, Joni Mitchell, Tori Amos etc. and this album by Jennifer Lee is the most deeply felt and emotionally intimate lyrics and vocals I've heard since Joni Mitchells' BLUE. The vocals are what draws you in. Jennifer has a way of making you live her pain, passion, anger and empathy with a single breath. The song struture is fresh and unique and while some may consider her approach "Tori-ish", at first listen, once you dig deeper you'll be pleasantly rewarded. This album is a must for lovers of the singer-songwriter genere...experience it!
